Elf arrives - Day 1

This morning Gus Gus, our Elf on the Shelf came back from the North Pole. Ella named him last year. This year he planned a special North Pole breakfast, decorated the table and chandelier, wrote the girls a letter, and brought them both sparkly Santa hats.

Our breakfast consisted of a strawberry banana candy cane, grape banana strawberry santa hat, powered donuts, and green vanilla pudding.

I'm so excited this year to start new traditions, share old traditions, enjoy the holiday, and watch Aubriella experience all of this.
Tonight we watched a christmas movie that just mesmerized Aubriella. She stood there and just stared at the tv. I can see the Polar Express becoming a new favorite movie.

Wordless Wednesday

After only having a 10 minute power nap around 10:30 am she was exhausted and fussy but fighting sleep at 1:30. I decided to put her in the car and go for a drive in hopes that she would fall asleep. An hour later she passed out 2 minutes from the house. The nap only lasted an hour and 10 minutes, wasn't long enough. Aubriella did go to sleep at 9:30 pm with no fight.

Light Switches

Aubriella recently has learned how to turn the lights on and off by switching the switch up or down. She hasn't mastered the switches that go sideways yet. I know that will come in due time. So anytime we leave or enter a room she wants to be the one to flip the switch.
Aubriella also likes to rearrange the dining room table chairs. She will push them away from the table, move them into the living room, or use them to get to grandpa's computer.
Now put the two of those together and you get a wild child who will push the chair over to the wall to flip the light switches on and off. It is easy entertainment but also scares the crap out of me that she is gonna fall off the chair.
What am I gonna do with my wild child. I need  a way to child proof that stops her.

Not hand, foot, and mouth

Oh what am I going to do with my daughter? If it's not one thing it's another. This pasted Tuesday Aubriella went back to the doctor. This time she saw her doctor, not an associate or the ER. I love her doctor, and everyone else must too. At times it is hard to get into see her at the last minute.
Anyways, her doctor was able to determine that she doesn't have hand, foot, and mouth disease. She is allergic to penicillin. She was on amoxicillin the week before for an ear infection.
My parents ended up taking Aubriella to the doctor so I wouldn't have to miss another day of work. The doctor showed them pictures of what hand, foot and mouth disease looks like and allergic reactions. She also sent them home with a prescription for a steroid to help get the redness to go down on the rash and recommended an over the lotion for her skin. She is starting to look better. The rash isn't as red and isn't as raised.

The Rash

Aubriella has come down with a horrible rash. It showed up Thursday morning on her neck than ended up spreading over most of her body. My first thought was it is the rash that is suppose to go along with the chicken pox vaccine she had gotten 10 days before. I took her to the doctor Thursday and they said it was just a rash it has to take its course. Also that there is no way to determine what caused it.

There had only been a few things different that I could think of. I had switched diaper brands since we were given some for free. Her father had also given her vitamin water and took her to the play area at the mall. Thursday night Ella would walk around for a few minutes then start to cry that her feet hurt due to the rash on the bottom of her feet. By Friday morning she now had the rash on her cheeks as well. The only place she doesn't have the rash is her forehead, nose, eyes, and under her hair. I called the doctor and waited for her to call me back.
During the waiting time Ella got a fever of at least 100. I called back spoke with a different nurse she just told me to give her ibuprofen, and benadryl that it was still probably just a rash it.

After a few hours some of her bumps had turned to welts so I took her to the local Emergency Room that has a pediatrics unit. As soon as they looked at her they knew what she had. Hand Foot and Mouth Disease. It sounds so horrible and it looks so horrible on Aubriella. The dr said she has one of the worst cases she has ever seen. Unfortunately it is a virus that just has to run it's course. We can just keep giving her medicine to help with the pain and keep her fever down. I hope it goes by quickly for her. She isn't her normal self.

With it being extremely contagious my niece who also lives with us, who is 10 months old, is going to get it. Today she has a few spots on her face and her butt. Hopefully she just doesn't get it as bad as Ella.

Has anyone else had any experience with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease?

Wordless Wednesday

(this photo is from around Christmas time, but who doesn't love cute little painted toes. Do you paint your little ones toes?)

15 Months

Last week Aubriella had her 15 month wellness appointment. We were running a little late, so we were taken in right away. We took her to get weighed and her height checked. While waiting for the doctor come in and examine her she decided she wasn't going to sit still. Aubriella decided to run around the room and play in the little girl in the mirror. (Not a big fan of it being behind the door. I was nervous they were going to come in the room when she was standing there and hit her with the door)

Age: 15 months
Weight: 25 lbs 6.4oz (85 percentile)
Height: 2 foot 7.5inches (75 percentile)
- Aubriella is walking all over the place, but still will crazy if she wants to get there faster.
- She has turned into a chatty Cathy. The house is never quite, if it is you go find what she is getting into.
- Aubriella loves to go buy. She gets all excited to get dressed and put her shoes and leave the house. She doesn't like coming home. When we are done shopping or doing whatever it can be a fight to get her in the carseat.
- Her ears looked good. She had been in the office the week before since she kept falling while she was walking around the house. There was a lot of build up of wax in her ears and they wouldn't tell if she had an ear infection or not. They gave us drops to put in her ears every night and antibiotics just incase.
- The doctor also said she is gorgeous, looks great, and is very curious.
- She is still drinking milk out of the bottle, but does juice and water from a sippy cup. If we are out to eat she does drink out of a straw.
- Aubriella has her bully moments. She will hit and push down her cousin Claudia. She also gets jealous and I can't hold Claudia without her at my side.
